Terry
loved music from the begining. As a child, he would save
up money he earned with odd jobs to buy 45" records.
"I loved all types of music and still do!",
Terry says. He would line up all his records in his room
awaiting the "Weekly Top 40" show to come on
the radio Sunay mornings to see how he did. He would
often hang around the DJ at his elementary dances and
give them 'hints' on what to play. This love of music
continued through high school and into college, but he
never got behind the console until he met DJ Paul Dailey
at Fitchburg State College. "Paul had been a DJ for
a few years, and I was fascinated as to how much he loved
to get the floor rocking," Moran remembers. Paul and
Terry started working frat parties, nightlcubs and
college radio in their college town, and started to get a
name for themselves. At the same time, Terry got a radio
show the second semester with another college kid from
Boston, David Knight, that had some brothers in a 'band'
that he wanted to push on the air. Terry thought the
music was too 'Poppy' for college radio, but gave in and
played a single. It was the first airplay the "New
Kids on The Block" got from their second almbum, 'Hangin'
Tough.' Terry became friends with NKOTB and worked with
them as a 'roadie' for about a year as their carreers
really took off. Terry and Dave's show "THE DAVEY D
SHOW ON WXPL" is credited on the 'Hangin' Tough'
ablum. Terry and Paul continued to become popular DJs at
the school and soon were renting out clubs and throwing
parties for profit. It was at this time that Terry formed
CROWN ENTERTAINMENT, and name he used in honor of his
deceased uncle, Peter Moran, that recently passed away
and owned Crown Cleaning in Florida. "It was a way
to honor my uncle, with ther permission of my family."
Terry Says, " I also liked what the CROWN stands for,
it makes people envision quality and integrity, and that's
what I want people to think of when they think of us!"
Terry worked in nightlcubs for almost 3 years before he
would take on his first formal event, a friend's wedding.
"I had plenty of offers, but I wanted to make sure
that I was completely ready with my experience. I didn't
want to ruin anyones wedding." Since then, Crown has
gained business every year with their commitment to
customer service and dazzling shows. Terry has been a
speaker 5 times at seminars in Las Vegas and Atlanta, and
now helps hos the National DJ Convention. He still works
with his college buddy Paul Dailey on many events. "I
still love all types of music and want to continue having
fun and helping people have a great time for years to
come!"
